Our Mission
There are many eager volunteers and funding opportunities seeking challenged and aspiring African communities. However, most of these volunteers and funding opportunities are not connected to the very organizations which need them most.
SPAN is a partnership between volunteers from around the world and qualified African NGOs (non governmental organizations) who uphold SPAN’s commitment to sustainable development, uplifting human rights, and equal opportunity for personal and community growth.
SPAN recognizes volunteers as a source of talent, experience, and energy, real assets which produce real results in the communities where they work. By working together in honest and transformational partnerships, individuals, households, and grassroots organizations can create opportunities for change while solving seemingly impossible issues.
Current Events
In January of 2008, during the challenging uprising following the elections, SPAN was successful in raising over $3000 USD in just one week, the funds wired directly to SPAN Executive Board Member Cameron Dunkin who worked with Pistis founder Gladys Wakesa to secure food and clothing for the existing and new arrival orphans.
SPAN continues to be involved and actively engaged. SPAN Directors and volunteers were on-site in Nakuru in the spring of 2008, working with Pistis Academy & Orphanage, the Baobab Branch School, and the Morokoshi Nursery & Kindergarten.
